What up, Cut Up! Welcome to the first episode of A Poor Excuse for a Podcast. In Episode 1 we take an in-depth look at the story "Innocence is Bliss" in which the author and podcast host Nathan McDougal, recounts the time he casually stumbled across a dead body at the tender age of 8 years old.

 

 

E2: My Father The Artist

In episode 2 of A Poor Excuse for a Podcast, Host Nathan McDougal brings in two very special guests, his father, and uncle. Along with his younger brother and returning co-host Boochee, the guys discuss everything from growing up in the ’70s, the power and influence of male role models and the challenges and rewards of fatherhood. 

E3: Like a Punch to the Face

In episode 3, Nate and the crew sit down and discuss bullying, bullies and the bullied. In "Like a Punch to the Face" Nate recounts his own experience with a childhood bully and everything it took to overcome it. Joined by Trace and Natasha the Poor Excuse crew explores the idea behind why some kids bully and why some kids allow themselves to be bullied. 

E4: Gunsmoke

Bullets fly in Episode 4 of A Poor Excuse for a Podcast as our host and hero Nathan McDougal retells the tale of how he narrowly avoided being initiated into a street gang, only to somehow still find a way to nearly get himself shot to death in an O.K. Corral Style shoot out on the back streets of a North Nashville Neighborhood. So round up the gang, pile into your nearest 2-door sedan, press play and get ready to make some bad decisions because this one is going to be a wild ride. 

E5: Go Kinfolk Go Kinfolk

In episode 5 the crew recounts Nashville's mostly unknown car culture and its even lesser known teenage night life scene that thrived during the early 2000's. They story of "Ochie Wally" and the perfect night out followed by, the pursuit of trying to relive that perfection and facing utter failure. Episode 5 is a lot of fun, so hop in and let's ride out, its about to be a hell of a night.

E6: Hey Love - A Poor Excuse for a Podcast

Black Love is in the air in Episode 6 as Marsha joins A Poor Excuse for a Podcast to discuss how she and Nathan first met almost 20 years ago while still in high school. The lovebirds reminisce about the English teacher that introduced them, their faithful first meeting in the school library and almost every awkward teenage dating moment between then and realizing they'd met the person they were meant to spend the rest of their lives with. Episode 6 is sweet, endearing and ton of fun. We hope we enjoy listening as much as we did recording it.
